Rainbow Wall Approach

Postby redrocksguide on Wed Mar 11, 2009 9:04 pm

The fixed rope that was used to get up the water runnel at the bottom of the approach slabs is gone. The alternative is to climb around the runnel on the left. Hard enough that most will want rock shoes, 5.8 and slabby.

The rope is now back in place (June 2009).

Also, here is a better description for the two easy, but wandering pitches below Over The Rainbow Ledge.
8. 200' 5.7 A long pitch leads up and right, passing through a couple of chimneys then over some ledges and short steep steps to a bushy ledge below a left-facing corner. Climb the corner to an awkward exit right in a slanting chimney. This leads to a belay below another left-facing corner.
9. 60' 5.7 The corner is 5.9 and a bit sketchy. An easier option is to traverse right around the base of the corner onto a slab. Climb the slab (5.5) to reach an anchor on a beautiful flat ledge.
