New Late Exit Procedure

Post by redrocksguide » Thu Oct 31, 2019 3:38 pm

Starting January 1, 2020, late exit climbing and high-country backpacking permit requests at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area will move to Recreation.gov. At that time, permits will not be available by calling the phone line that was used previously (702-515-5050). When the move happens on the first of the year, people can request a permit by clicking the “Buy a Pass” button on the website. Late exit permits are free, but a 50-cent processing fee will be charged.

The permits allow for late exit (up to two hours after the normal closure time) for multi-pitch routes but do not allow for entrance into the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area fee area (Scenic Drive). There is a separate fee, payable at the Fee Station, for entrance into the Scenic Drive. The late exit permit also does not cover camping fees in the campground.

For more information regarding rock climbing, high-country backpacking, or using the late exit permit system, please visit the Bureau of Land Management’s website:https://www.blm.gov/nevada/red-rock-can ... recreation
